Textile company in western Maharashtra – They were worried about not getting the temperature. 

Somebody suggested installing a booster pump to solve the problem. When consulted, we checked the pressure drop, various velocity profiles to confirm the need.

Buying booster pump is very easy,  spend 100k and enjoy depreciation as well as a good flow, but yearly recurring electrical bill expense would have been above ₹10 Lacs /year.

We identified that the issue lied with a valve, that was restricting the flow due to malfunction. Replacing the valve solved the problem!

Key Learning:

  • Booster pump cannot be the solution to each heat problem.

  • Call or write to EVPL before modifying / altering circuit.

Company manufacturing flexible packaging used for packing wafers, chips etc. - V.P wanted to go for higher sized circulation pump and remove booster pump which was already installed. With our prior experience in this industry, we advised him against it as their imported heat exchanger size was smaller, which needed higher flow - velocity to achieve proper temperature.

Replacing the booster pump with the new circulating pump would have costed ₹70k more. Also, the higher sized pump would have resulted in higher pressure drop and higher power consumption (by 15-20%) and longer processing time (over 25% more).

Company in north India - Problem of not getting the temperature.

Everything was alright till they replaced a corroded pipeline.

During our audit, we found that one piece of the pipeline had diameter of 3” instead of 4”.

We replaced that piece and solved the problem.

Key Learning:

  • Optimum velocities, correct pumps & piping sizes are important in thermic fluid system.

  • Talk to Eximious - we know thermic fluid better.

While comparing Thermic fluid analysis reports of a reputed chemical manufacturer, we found that the TF was deteriorating every six months. They were replacing about 30-50% oil every year to bring oil parameters within limit.

Upon detailed sample analysis, we concluded that the separated low boilers were not getting vented. The cause was improper de-aeration of oil.

We designed and installed system relief for them.

After one month, the analysis report showed that deterioration has stopped and the flash point of the oil improved. This audit addressed a system deficiency.

  • Bench mark against good system design & well maintenance practices.

  • Avoid headaches by finding root cause of the problem.

  • Enjoy the benefits of a well-designed system.
